hald uses udevinfo to get a list of devices. This is just a symlink to udevadm, the symlink has been removed in later versions of udev (126).

I think it would make more sense to add the symlink in the udev port rather than patch hal

Instead of attacking udev with a symlink fix hal itself! Here is a patch to do just that.

Is this patch approved by hal upstream?

udev 126's ChangeLog states that the udevinfo symlink should be added on a package level if it's still needed; right now, it clearly is, so we conform to their suggestion and readded it. You may want to check the upstream projects next time before making uninformed claimes about "attacking" udev.

Lucas will take this upstream, so hopefully the symlinks can go away soon.

A patch has been submitted and accepted by the hal team. We can get rid of the symlink when the next version of hal is release.

I'll close this one now.
