DetailsFedora Core has deprecated libusb in favor of libusbx, which is a fork of the libusb project. Upon glancing at the homepage, I am left with a good impression of its merits.

As a side editorial -- usually I'm wary of forks. However, Fedora has given in the seal of approval, so that eases my concern. http://hansdegoede.livejournal.com/12524.html |

Even debian is using the libusbx fork, probably we should switch with 3.1 too.

The original libusb project is still alive and active. Currently a rc10 for llibusb 1.0.16 is out and works for me without issues. We should probably stick with libusb.
