Since tetex is no longer maintained [1], and hasn't been for more than a year most distros have decided to drop it in favour of texlive. Playing around with openSuse shows that the major pecies are

+ texlive-bin [2.4 M (6.4 M unpacked)]
+ texlive [123.6 M (258.5 M unpacked)]
+ texlive-latex [75.4 M (132.4 M unpacked)]

I have got a working texlive port ready for testing available here:
httpup sync http://maxiq.ovh.org/CRUX/porty/#texlive texlive

Unfortunately prepared archives (by me) are bigger than Fredrik mentioned, fonts take majority of space (~542M unpacked), test it please and say what do you think.

compressed archives:
23M texlive-20080816-source.tar.lzma
585K texlive-texmf-20080822.tar.xz
295M texlive-texmf-dist-20080822.tar.xz

texlive-texmf-20080822.tar.xz and texlive-texmf-dist-20080822.tar.xz are stripped from docs and extracted from ftp://tug.org/texlive/historic/2008/texlive-20080822-texmf.tar.lzma

after installation texlive takes ~722M hdd space

(opt/tetex conflicts with texlive)

# thanks to rehabdoll for hosting :]

Hmm, unfortunately I can't download Your port, due to "Error 403".

you should use httpup to download the port, anyways I've a timeout:

$ cd /tmp/
$ httpup sync http://maxiq.ovh.org/CRUX/porty/#texlive texlive
Connecting to http://maxiq.ovh.org/CRUX/porty/
Updating collection texlive
Checkout: texlive/.footprint
Failed to download http://maxiq.ovh.org/CRUX/porty/texlive/.footprint: Operation timed out after 60000 milliseconds with 2587520 out of 3657329 bytes received
Checkout: texlive/.md5sum
Checkout: texlive/Pkgfile
Checkout: texlive/avoid_getline_namespace_clashes.patch
Checkout: texlive/bad_bad_bad.patch
Checkout: texlive/include_stdio.patch
Checkout: texlive/post-install
Checkout: texlive/texmf.cnf

also you can take a look at http://maxiq.ovh.org/CRUX/porty/texlive/Pkgfile

Has this "texlive" port moved to cruxpl?
Comment by Bartlomiej Palmowski (mxq) - Saturday, 02 July 2011, 20:58 GMT+2
No, I'm not part of cruxpl, besides cruxpl is unmaintained, since no one is interested in maintaining texlive maybe we should close the ticket?
